Meet The Publisher
Saturday 4th July, 2020 *by appointment
The Presentation Centre
We are delighted to announce the return of Wexford Literary Festival’s Meet the Publisher! This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for writers to meet a literary publisher and pitch their manuscript!
In 2013 and 2018, this event resulted in a number of success stories – Caroline Busher and Joan Brady bypassed the slush pile and placed their sample chapters directly into the hands of Trace Literary Agency, who then went on to secure them both a book deal with Poolbeg Press.
We congratulate Pamela Hobbs who met Paula at the 2018 Wexford Literary Festival’s Meet The Publisher. She has recently been told that she has secured a THREE BOOK publishing deal with Poolbeg Press. Congratulations Pamela!
Successful applicants will be given a ten-minute slot with Paula Campbell, Publisher, Poolbeg Press and another publisher within the same group.
The publisher will NOT have read your Synopsis. The synopsis is for selection purposes only to fast track your work and for you to meet a Publisher who knows that others have determined your work meritorious for interview, hence moving your work from buried in a pile of unsolicited manuscripts to face-face.
DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS-19, THIS YEAR THE INTERVIEW MAY HAPPEN VIA VIDEO/SKYPE/ZOOM.
Terms and Conditions:
You are to write a synopsis or summary of your story (as if you were advertising it on the jacket of your book);
and why you believe your work should be selected.
Around a page max. or 300 words.
Also, provide an extract of your work that shows your writing style, max. 2 pages (PDF version is good).
It is your pitch to make a panel want to select YOUR book/YOU as one of 24 to be interviewed by Paula Campbell and another Poolbeg Publisher.
A non-refundable entry fee is €15
Submissions are accepted from 13 January – 13 May, 2020.
