A new award to honour Wexfordian, Eoin Colfer …

In 2021, Wexford Literary Festival will introduce a new Award, an award for adult writers of fiction for children. This Award honours our living and internationally successful Wexfordian children’s author, Eoin Colfer. We are delighted to be able to offer author’s a chance to write for this audience.

Eoin is the author of  over forty books including the internationally bestselling Artemis Fowl books which have sold in excess of 25 million copies worldwide. Kenneth Branagh directed the movie version which can be seen on Disney +. Eoin’s books have won numerous awards including The UK Children’s Book of the Year, The Irish Children’s Book of the Year and The German Children’s Book of the Year. The BBC made a hit series based on his book Half Moon Investigations. Eoin has collaborated with some of his favourite writers and artists, including Oliver Jeffers, Andrew Donkin, Giovanni Rigano and PJ Lynch on various projects including Imaginary Fred, Illegal and The Dog Who Lost His Bark. Eoin has recently finished a two year term as Ireland’s Children’s Laureate, and was delighted to be invited play around with the Iron Man character in his 2016 novel The Gauntlet. For theatre Eoin has written scripts for the musicals The Lords of Love,  Bellbottoms, Noël and Dustin’s Comeback Vehicle with composer Liam Bates, and the plays Holy Mary and My Real Life which have toured nationally. Eoin’s latest books are The Fowl Twins and Highfire, a fantasy novel for big children.
